Update on MP

Hola Everyone,

So I know I mentioned casually a couple of weeks ago that my host Mom Mari Paz had had eye surgery...well here's the update:

Her daughter (who's super sweet like her) served dinner that night, but after that we would see Mari Paz at least a little each day even though she could not come down with us.  She said she was seeing better very soon after, but she still was having a little balance trouble and was not allowed to turn her head or bend down.

Then she went to the doc and got a good report and was able to move her head slowly.  Soon after that she had her stitches removed (she had stitches in the back of her eye and could see the little black dots...eww!).

Now she comes down daily to check on us and do stuff around the house, but leaves most of the cleaning to a cleaning lady that worked for her mother-in-law.  She is seeing better and feels balanced around the house but not outside yet.  She cannot bend down yet but can turn her head and does most everything when it comes to serving dinner and is her usual cheery self.

So all went well.  She still will not be able to return to work (she's a teacher) for a few weeks because she cannot read well yet and cannot risk being unable to bend over or having something hit her in the eye.  But she seems to be enjoying the time at home relaxing.

Also, say a prayer for her and her family...her mother-in-law died at age 99 on Halloween.  I believe her husband and daughter were taking it hard.  And I think the funeral was this week sometime...

Peace and Blessings,
Melanie
